Rome is the most timeless city I have visited so far throughout my travels. Although it was completely inhabited by tourists, the city was more breathtaking than you could imagine. They call Rome the Eternal City and after experiencing a few days their I really understand why this is true. I felt like everywhere I went I was touched by a little bit of what happened there, and it was really nice to take a step back and realize that this place shaped a lot of what is today. Of course I visited all of these amazing monuments in style, via Vespa (I’m really sorry Dad), and even riding around the streets I was blown away by how people could have created something so beautiful so long ago. The most meaningful part of my trip was going to the Vatican, and San Pietro’s Basilica. While I was there on Sunday the Pope did a blessing and I felt so grateful to be present for it. When I was young my Nonna bought me a bracelet that I wear everyday from San Pietro’s and got it blessed by Pope Benedict. This time I was able to buy her and my other family members something and get it blessed by Pope Francis. It was a really special experience. A weekend was not enough time to enjoy all that Rome had to offer; next time I know the exact places to start. Impero senza fine, an endless empire.
